Description
In 1992, Nintendo released the Super Scope in America, Europe and Japan followed in 1993. As it is a wireless light gun, it came with an infrared receiver that connects to the second player port of the Super Nintendo. With no wires attached, it uses six AA batteries for power. The first revisions came bundled with a game cartridge called “Super Scope 6”, which included six mini-games for the Super Scope. It also comes with a detachable scope that can be mounted on the left or right side of the gun for ambidextrous use.
Instead of a trigger, the Super Scope utilizes a fire button on top of the device. Next to it is a pause button, as the name suggests, it is meant to pause the game. To power on the gun, there is a 3-way switch with the modes “OFF”, “ON” and “TURBO”. The turbo mode is supposed to be the equivalent of a traditional auto-fire mode. On the handle at the front, there is a button marked “Cursor”. The manual states that this button is used to project a visual cursor on the screen when pressed, but that this button can have different functions in certain games. In Yoshi’s Safari, for example, this button makes Yoshi jump.
