SPEEDLINK SL-4260

Description

In 2005, Speedlink released the SL-4260 as a non-licensed Desert Eagle light gun for the PlayStation 2. It is identical to the Cybergun Desert Eagle, which has an original license. The gun supports the GunCon and GunCon2, as well as a normal Gun Mode.

The SL-4260 has the “A” and “B” buttons above the intersection of the trigger and the fake laser sight, both are rubber dome. The grip button and the plug for the pedal are also mapped to “A”. On the fake laser sight sits a select button (rubber dome) on the right, on the left side is a digipad (rubber dome) and the gunmode select switch. The start button and the autoreload/autofire select switch are located on the fake slide release on the left of the gun. If autoreload is activated, the capacity is five rounds. But to reload you have to pull the trigger a sixth time to actually reload. This can be very confusing as it results in a sixth shot, which will not be registered as the gun simulates an off-screen shot. The hammer acts as the “C” button and uses a micro switch. At the bottom of the handle is an on/off switch for the blowback feedback and the ts-connector for an optional pedal.

The gun comes with a blowback feedback, which means that on every shot, a motor moves the slide once and a spring then brings it back into its original position. The mechanism isn’t flawless, as the slide does not stop after being pulled back by the spring resulting in a second bounce. When autofire is activated, the feedback triggers continuously if the trigger is held down. The feedback does not need an external power source on the PS2 as long as the controller port is connected. On a Ps2 slim however, you need to connect an adapter between the PS2 slim and it’s power brick. The other end of that adapter plugs into the controllerport of the gun.
